Barb was talking tonight about presenting to the BEd students at MSVU the other day and how surprised they were about the ways that Apple Tech can be used in the classroom. I wish I could say I was surprised but the entire program needs to be overhauled. When I took it a looooooong time ago, I can honestly say that there were very few courses that I have used in my own practice and those ones were all taught by teachers who were still in the classroom.
But back to tonight. It was a heck of a lot of work but once something like that is done, it's done forever so nothing says I can't use it again!

You are right Darci, it isn't easy being a teacher, but we do it because we care. In the area of teacher training, you are right the program does need some work.
ReplyDeleteAs an administrator I see a number of young people becoming teachers and expecting all students to learn the same. The stress they encounter when they discover reality is alarming. However, my experience has shown that good teachers take these new teachers under their wings and show them a few tricks of the trade. Tricks, that all students benefit from. I am thankful everyday for the expertise my staff shares with one another, especially in the area of AT.

ReplyDeleteI think that once you become more familiar with the apps and start to get your favorites you will find that it isn't that difficult. Also, when you see a student have success completing the task it is all worth it. :)
